The aim for this project is for my group and I to create a music video that follows the codes and conventions of others with a similar target audience in the current market and use techniques to make the audience relate to it. We hope if the target audience were to see our video, a sense of verisimilitude would be created as our video would use similar features and conventions to others in the market.

Research: Advertising Techniques/ Ideology

When creating my perfume advert, I researched into advertising technique that I could use to get a mass audience to buy my product.
When the public buy the perfume, they are also buying a lifestyle image. The message is given to the audience that if you wear this perfume, you're life will be like the more ideal live being shown on the advert. The audience are inspiring to the celebrity lifestyle being offered, not just a new fragrance.
The USP of the product is that the audience are buying into the benefit that the product has and not just the product.

Advertising Techniques used in my Perfume Ad:

Persuasive language
The language used on the advert 'the fragrance of the year' makes the audience want to go out and buy the perfume straight away, thinking its the best on the market.
Expert endorsement
LOOK magazine are experts on fashion and beauty and many of the target audience buying the product will trust their views. The audience will think that because LOOK says it's the 'fangrance of the year' then it must be true.
Celebrity endorsement
The fact that a celebrity is selling the product is very important to the profit. The audience will not only want the lifestyle of the celebrity but they will also feel that if the product is good enough for a celebrity then it is good enough for them.
Gaze theory
If the artist is attractive, the audience will think that buy wearing this perfume they will be seen as attractive by those around them.
Lifestyle fantasy- If the audience had the product, their lives would brighten and get better, becoming like the celebrities
